The Big Move

When we first made the decision to sell and move, I told Les, "This time, I want to hire people to move the big stuff." This time, he agreed. We decided to check with college students we know who might need the money, and our friend Otoniel quickly said that he wanted to do it, and would get another guy or two. OK. So, the week before the move, our sweet college friend Ena asked about the move, and said that the International students that are her friends would help us move. She created a Facebook event, Maxwell moving party and invited her groups of international students. So sweet!

Last Wednesday, Otoniel showed up at 3,but no helpers. Everyone he asked were getting ready for finals and could not come. So he and Les began the move, starting with the sofa.

They could not get it our of the door. They turned it every direction and could not get it. Weird, since we got it in through that door last year. Finally, our neighbor Rebecca called her friend Michael and they finally got it out.

Then, the rest of the helpers arrived. The move turned into a really fun time, with folks from Mexico, India, Thailand, Spain, and Korea.  Our daughter, Libby, came to help, with her two youngest sons, who are from Korea, adding to the international flair of the event.

The best scene of the evening was the effort to get the washer, dryer, and refrigerator into the back of a pickup at that same time. Five people speaking three languages did not make it any easier, but did make it quite entertaining. Finally, we left the dryer behind.

When we moved to Stephenville 28 years ago, we became friends with a group of International students. We hosted a big dinner, sang songs, played games, visited, shared the gospel, and enjoyed being with these students every Saturday night for 8 months. How sweet that as we move out of Stephenville, God arranged for International students to help.

We moved almost everything that night, with a load left for us to get the next day.
